The lives of saints are strange literary creations, full of curious events and miracles. Despite their lack of reality, they claim to tell of a higher truth. They bring together the earthly and the heavenly, time and eternity, and combine the chaos of the world with God’s plan of salvation.
The Abbey Library of St Gall holds an important collection of early medieval saints’ lives, and the exhibition explores some of these marvellous stories.
