Tasks and Objectives
Preservation
In order to preserve the unique collection of the Abbey Archives for a long time to come, it is the task of the archivists to conserve it appropriately. In order to ensure this, all archival materials are stored under ideal climatic conditions and protected from light in the cultural heritage room of the Abbey Archives. Furthermore, the archival records of the Abbey Archives are regularly checked for their condition and, if necessary, restored by experienced specialists.
Access
In order to make the valuable documents of the Abbey Archives accessible to the public, they are continuously indexed and recorded in the archive database Scope. This makes the overview of the existing documents more and more complete and thus considerably facilitates research in the archives.
Research
In addition to indexing the documents in the Abbey Archives, they are also examined within the framework of research projects. This not only reveals which documents are kept in the Abbey Archives, but also generates a wealth of knowledge about these documents, files and books.
Mediation
To ensure that as large an audience as possible has access to the knowledge about the unique holdings of the Abbey Archives, they offer a wide range of educational activities. This includes publications, lectures, exhibitions, guided tours and workshops for children.
